Chanelle Wilson
Chanelle Wilson (she/her) is a Registered Social Worker (RSW #15246) and a Master’s-Level Practicum Counsellor working under clinical supervision. She is currently completing the final year of her Master of Education in Counselling at the University of Northern British Columbia (UNBC).
With over five years of counselling experience, I support youth, teens, adults, couples, and families navigating anxiety, addiction, depression, grief and loss, trauma, relationship challenges, life transitions, and other difficult experiences.
Life can sometimes feel heavy, overwhelming, or confusing. Counselling offers a space to slow down, feel supported, and begin making sense of what you’re experiencing.
Together, we can explore your emotions, experiences, relationships, and patterns while creating space for healing, growth, and meaningful change.
I bring a calm, genuine, and compassionate presence to counselling. I value honesty, connection, and curiosity, and I strive to create a space where you can feel comfortable being yourself—without judgment or the expectation that you have everything figured out.
Areas of counselling expertise
People come to counselling for many different reasons. Sometimes life feels overwhelming, relationships become difficult, or experiences from the past continue to affect how we feel and respond in the present.
I support individuals, couples, and families with:
- Anxiety, stress & burnout — worry, overthinking, emotional overwhelm, and exhaustion,
- Relationships & family — communication, conflict, boundaries, trust, connection, and relationship patterns,
- Identity & belonging — self-understanding, identity, purpose, and feelings of disconnection,
- Life transitions — career changes, academic stress, relocation, separation, and other significant life changes,
- Trauma, grief & loss — processing difficult or traumatic experiences, grief and loss, and their ongoing impact, and
- Self-worth & coping — confidence, self-criticism, addictions, and developing healthier ways of coping.
You don’t need to have a specific problem or diagnosis to come to counselling. Sometimes you simply need a safe space to pause, reflect, and better understand yourself and what you need.
What you can expect
I see counselling as a collaborative process built on trust, connection, and feeling understood. I take the time to understand you as a whole person—your experiences, relationships, strengths, values, and the world around you.
There is no one-size-fits-all approach to counselling. Our work will be shaped around your individual needs, goals, and what feels most helpful for you.
Together, we may explore:
- How past experiences may be influencing the present,
- Patterns in your emotions, thoughts, and behaviours,
- Difficult experiences and relationships,
- Communication and connection with others, and
- Your strengths, coping strategies, and new ways of responding to challenges.
My approach
I use an integrative approach to counselling, drawing from different therapeutic approaches based on your individual needs, experiences, and goals.
My work is informed by:
- Narrative Therapy
- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
- Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)
- Motivational Interviewing
- Trauma-Informed Care
- Person-Centred Therapy
My philosophy
I believe everyone has a unique story shaped by their experiences, relationships, culture, and environment. I also believe we have an inherent capacity for healing and change—but change can be hard! Sometimes we need someone to walk alongside us, listen without judgment, and help us understand ourselves or see our experiences from a different perspective.
Reaching out for counselling doesn’t mean that something is wrong with you. It can simply be a way of caring for yourself, gaining a deeper understanding of what you’re experiencing, and creating space for something to change.
My role is to support and guide you with honesty, compassion, and curiosity as you build greater self-understanding, strengthen your ability to navigate life’s challenges, and move toward the life you want.
Is this the right fit?
My approach may be a good fit if you are looking for a counselling space that is:
- Warm, safe, and non-judgmental
- Collaborative, compassionate, and genuine
- Focused on understanding you as a whole person
- A place to explore emotions, relationships, patterns, and life experiences
- Supportive of meaningful and lasting change
Finding the right counsellor matters. You don’t have to have everything figured out before reaching out—we can start wherever you are.
